âWhat are you doing?â
Thatâs a good question and while it was just asked by the woman tied up behind me, itâs one I am also asking myself. Thatâs because Iâve gone and picked up the knife again and while I am just holding it at the moment, I havenât decided what I am going to do next.
âIâm thinking,â I reply because that much is true.
âThinking? What is there to think about? You just need to untie me so we can get out of here together!â
âSssshhh,â I say, although that seems a little unlikely to work now that Iâve removed the mouth gag, and sure enough, Iâm right.
âHey! Come on! Weâre on the same side here! Letâs help each other!â the woman Iâm supposed to kill tells me, and I want to shut her up somehow, but as I approach with the knife, she starts to panic, presuming this is the end for her.
âGet away from me! No, donât do it!â she cries until I put the knife down again and tell her Iâm not going to stab her, at least not yet anyway, though I donât mention that last part.
âCalm down. I just need you to be quiet because I need to think and youâre distracting me,â I say, but that seems to be the green light for this woman to try and confuse me even more because she suddenly starts rambling about everything.
âMy name is Holly! I am twenty-eight, and I work as a nurse at Charring Hospital! My mum and dadâs names are Ida and Glenn, and I have two brothers, Max and Charlie! We spend every Christmas together, and Charlie is due to get married next year!â
âWhy the hell are you telling me this?â I ask, but I already know the answer. Holly, as I now know she is called, is aware that the more I know about her, the harder it will be for me to kill her, so thatâs why Iâm getting the whole spiel about her family.
âMax has a dog called Baxter, and he got sick once when he was small. I was looking after him that day, so I took him to the vets and sat with him all day until they fixed his leg and he was allowed to go home. I thought he was going to die, but he was okay, and now heâs old, but heâs still just as adorable.â
âShut up!â
âNo, I will not! I have a family who loves me, and they want to see me again! I have friends too! My best friend is called Kelly, and we met in primary school. Weâve been best friends ever since, and she lives around the corner from me! Sheâs getting married soon as well, and Iâm the chief bridesmaid! I was organizing things for her hen party before I came here. Weâre going to Barcelona! Thereâs twelve of us, including her mum, who is called Pamela and is like a second mother to me!â
I reach out for the gag and
